Visit to the Uruguayan American School

As per a cooperation agreement with the Uruguayan American School, we visited their premises with a group of students who are studying English in 2nd and 3rd grades.

The goal was to share assignments and projects between both institutions throughout the year. In this occasion we shared a Science class which was very valuable for our students. We thank the UAS for their warm welcome!

Workshop on prevention of human trafficking

We received the visit of Tatiana Oviedo, Communications student from the Universidad de Montevideo, and ex grant holder from the Embassy of the United States, together with two classmates. They held workshops with our 3rd grade students on prevention of human trafficking and awareness of the risks that youth face. These workshops were very comprehensive and valuable for our students.

Colour Fair

We invited our students’ families to the Liceo to participate in the Colour Fair. It was an entertaining experience, with  great attendance and cooperation from the families and youngsters. The fair was in charge of the cultural entertainers who organized and collected the proceedings which will be used to fund the camps.

Beginning of high school year

We are very proud to have the complete First Level Secondary Education cycle in our institution. 225 students attend the Liceo from 1st to 3rd grades. Apart from the students coming from the Simiente Project, some students have been incorporated from full time Public School Nº 153 from Toledo Chico and some referred by ETAF (MIDES programme for neighbouring areas).

A series of activities were organized as an introduction to high school life for all grades. The main goal was their gradual integration to the Liceo and for them to get acquainted with our rules of coexistence, premises, professors and classmates.

Training and Integration

During the month of February 2018, a series of training and integration activities were organized for all the Liceo’s staff.  We shared different experiences  through which we acquired the knowledge and built the appropriate bonds  to achieve the results sought out.

Robotics

A group of our students presented their projects at the Robotics, Programming and Video Games 2017 Olympics. Also at the 18th edition of “Roboteca”, organized by the Escuela Integral Hebrero Uruguaya.

The projects were “Rotasol”, a thermic panel which uses solar energy to heat a tubing system and “Clasificolor”, a classifier of different components’ colours.

Next year, the 19th edition of Roboteca will be carried at our Institution in October!

Spring Week

Our high school remained open during the September week holidays granted by the Secondary Education Council. The students were free to come to the Liceo to enjoy  ludic, recreational and original set of activities. These were:

  • Singing and theatre workshop
  • Cooking workshop
  • Screening of the movie “Mi Mundial”
  • Other ludic-recreational activities

The evaluation of the proposal was very positive and the students enjoyed all the activities.
